"Life is too short to not enjoy your job." Hans Smit
Over 40 years ago, Hans Smit set out on a mission to help butchers source products that were difficult to find. He spent his mornings taking orders from butchers he would soon call friends. Then, in the afternoon, he himself would deliver them.
Hans would build Unipac through passion and perseverance into a Canada-wide distributor providing packaging, ingredients, and other products to the food industry.

1978
Unipac is founded out of a small warehouse in Alberta, Canada.
1980
Unipac expands out of the province with customers in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
1985
Unipac launches a warehouse in British Columbia, extending its geographic reach to the west coast.
1986
Unipac launches in Ontario with blended ingredients and spices.
1992
Unipac acquires Kelly Roberts in Ontario and upgrades warehouse space.
1993
Operations begin in Quebec, marking its beginning as a true Canada-wide distributor.
2014
Unipac unveils plant protein products for their customers.
2016
Rootlogix buys Unipac and carries forward the tradition
2019
Paul Burnett, Employee #2, celebrates his 35th work anniversary and Cheryl Donaghy, Employee #8, celebrates her 32rd work anniversary.
